Over the past months, as we embarked on our journey to expand and grow our church, we have closely monitored our plans for the new multi-purpose building. As the infrastructure is weeks away from being finished, our goal has always been to provide a space that meets our spiritual needs and enhances our connection with the local community.
However, due to unforeseen economic shifts, the estimated construction cost for our intended multi-purpose building has risen from $2.5 million to $3.8 million, primarily because of inflation. In light of the rising mortgage rates and current financial climate, our Leadership Team proposed a more economically viable and community-focused alternative.
After prayerful consideration, the congregation of Century Church voted in favor of constructing a pre-engineered metal building that would house a gym, offices, bathrooms, and a stage, positioning us as a “community first” church. By hosting events such as basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and more, we aim to play an even more integral role in the Town of Pike Road. This alternative merely places the gym building ahead of the multi-purpose in our master plan.
Key benefits of this approach include:
- Significant cost savings;
- Faster construction, with an expected completion by fall 2024; and
- A space tailored to serve our community effectively.
